What is ME310?

Mechanical Engineering 310 (ME310) is a year-long, project-based design engineering course run through Stanford University. Rooted in practical engineering, it has evolved into one of the leading design innovation and global collaboration courses on the planet.

Central to ME310 is the Stanford Design Innovation Process that has fueled much of the entrepreneurial culture in Silicon Valley.

Our Letter to Aalto

We are approaching Aalto’s Administration to state our case for bringing ME310 back for the 2012-2013 term.

First, in our letter we request action by the Administration and also outline some possible course enhancements. Then, we plan to meet with anyone face-to-face who is willing to hear our story.

Words from alumni

ME310 — definitely the best course I have ever had. In this course, science and art meet technology, business and design + they all work together!

– Svante Suominen, 2011 Alum - http://svante.fi

ME310 has taught me more in 10 months that I would have learned in 10 years of studies, and given me loads of valuable contacts around the world. It has pushed my life further than I would have dared to imagine a year ago, and now the future seems bright.

– Panu Keski-Pukkila, 2011 Alum

Taking ME310 was easily the best decision of my entire academic career. The course was extremely challenging yet rewarding, academic yet deeply social, and the sheer talent and passion of the teaching staff was without equal!

– Tuomas Sahramaa, 2011 Alum

ME310 is by far the best university activity that I have ever participated in.

– Mikelis Studers, 2011 Alum

Thanks to ME310, I’m now an entrepreneur.

– Mikko Koskinen, CEO & Founder at Scoopinion, Winner of Uutisraivaaja. 2008 Alum

The course taught me what the Aalto University vision is about. It seems illogical to cancel a course that fits in so well with the University mission statement,  yields such excellent results (both project-wise and as a change in mindset), and creates a strong and lasting community.

– Sara De Moitié, 2010 Alum

You don’t learn to tackle with ambiguity, take responsibility, prototype in quick iterations or bootstrap better in any other course than ME310.

– Tuukka Kingelin, 2011 Alum
