Background

ME310 is now gone, but not forgotten. We need your support to help bring it back.
As you may know, until the fall of 2011 a course called Mechanical Engineering 310 (ME310) enjoyed a storied existence at Aalto University. A year-long, project-based design engineering course run through Stanford University, ME310 has evolved into one of the leading design innovation and global collaboration courses on the planet. ME310 was offered at Aalto for seven years, but due to money and staff shortages this run has now come to an end.

The loss of ME310 at Aalto leaves behind a beating community of design, engineering and business students who have worked hard to consistently deliver strong projects, and thus garner a strong reputation at our partner universities, and at Stanford in particular.

So, the ME310 Alumni have come together to build this website to document the people, projects and stories that make ME310 what it is: a truly cutting-edge, creative and globally minded educational experience. With this resource and others at our disposal, we are determined to convince the Aalto Administration that ME310 must return as a part of the curriculum for the 2012-2013 term.

We have also drafted a letter to Aalto’s Administration that is available here. In this letter we also outline some recommendations for improving the course, and desired action items as well. We will follow up on this letter with as many in-person meetings as we can to plead our case.

You can help!
We need to sustain the buzz around ME310 and underscore the course’s past successes, as well as the accomplishments that have yet to be written. Like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, tell your friends, or talk to your local Aalto Administration representative…every little bit helps. Also, keep an eye out for local ME310 events where you can come meet other alumni, or learn about the course for yourself!

Borrowing from our ME310 motto:  We need to make ME310 real again. We need to make it happen. This time more than ever.

Onward!
